NETGIGS is an online pay-per-view streaming service that makes live events available to everyone everywhere. While distribution platforms already exist, NETGIGS is unique as it offers an e-commerce platform for the live event industries. Our focus is not only on broadcasting an event, but also on the business of events, bringing efficiencies and optimising revenues. This is a fundamental change to the economics of live events and is beneficial to the people and businesses involved.

The Time to Act is Now

NETGIGS had planned to launch later in 2020. COVID-19 however, has devastated live performance industries - so we are accelerating our launch to now, starting with a focus on live music.

Muso Media

NETGIGS Founder Joe Ward worked part-time from 2013 to 2016 as a music photographer and videographer through his own business Muso Media.

February 2016 to May 2017
iSA Radio

In 2016 he had an idea for promoting local music. An internet radio station called ‘iSA Radio’ that would exclusively stream music from SA independent artists. Joe created the website platform, the mobile app, and some friends joined him on a team to bring iSA Radio to life.

The station had its own small recording studio in suburban Adelaide (South Australia) and invited local artists for recording sessions that were filmed and distributed online through social media. iSA Radio created a weekly ‘Top 10’ chart voted by the public on its website. They also ran ‘Headstart’ sessions opening up their studio to help emerging artists by recording their music.

This recording session received over 50,000 views on Facebook from an international audience.

Over time Joe found that there were far more people watching the video content than listening to the audio only radio stream. Even though the video content was engaging new viewers, the content was distributed via free streaming platforms, so the increased exposure was doing very little financially for the artists. It was at this stage that iSA Radio went off the internet airwaves in May 2017.

The iSA Radio experience turned out to be a proof of concept that lead into NETGIGS. It showed the demand for high quality music videos of bands/solo artists streamed on demand over the internet. This led Joe to research how the music industry works, to develop a business case that not only supported the artists but was sustainable as well.

January 2018 to April 2018

Development of NETGIGS MVP and Market Test

With a business case in mind, a new test studio was created. This time it was built specifically to include video production. Built under a pergola, the home studio had its own lighting rig, sound desk, video cameras, mix desk as well as the first version of NETGIGS’ IT platform. 6 ‘iSA Live’ concerts were streamed from this home studio to the NETGIGS IT platform with over 300 NETGIGS tickets sold. The numbers of pay-per-view customers proved that the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) IT platform worked as well as the payment model. Based on testing and customer feedback in this period the platform was revamped to make it more user-friendly.

NETGIGS Studio Session - The Skeleton Club

NETGIGS wanted to test if there would be audience interest for artists performing in recording studios as well as live venues. They organised their first ‘Studio Session’ with a performance from SA folk band The Skeleton Club in a South Australian recording studio, Wundenberg’s. The session was streamed live to Facebook so that the team could use Facebook’s targeted promotions to reach specific markets. An insignificant amount of US$300 was spent on Facebook promotion, which had the session viewed 247,000 times within the first week as well as reaching over half a million people.
